What are the post treatment care after mole removal?

Antiseptic cream will be applied to the wound after the mole is removed to prevent infection. Before applying the antiseptic solution, patients should wash or cleanse the wound with water or regular saline, softly patting it dry. Expect 3-7 days of scabbing, followed by a pink to red stain that lasts a few days before returning to natural skin color.

The cosmetic result is usually favorable, especially when the mole is small and shallow. If the mole is a larger and deeper lesion, a small dent is probable. Recurrence of the mole is likely, and care could be needed again in some cases. A follow-up visit 1-2 months later to assess recovery and recurrence could be needed.
