Jaw Botox – Jaw Reduction for Face Slimming – Price and Review Guide (2021)
When it come to Botox, there are many misconception that Botox will give off the “plastic” appearance as it is mostly used for wrinkles. Other than facial enhancements, Botox is very effective for medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), teeth grinding (bruxism) and muscle reduction (jaw reduction).
Jaw Botox is a non surgical alternative to jaw reduction surgery, which requires long down time and surgery complication. This face slimming treatment only requires 40 – 80 units of botulinum toxin and has no downtime at all.
How does Jaw Botox work?
Jaw Botox is the process of injecting Botox into the jaw (masseter) muscles. Botulinum toxin is used to temporarily block nerve impulses in the Masseter. As a result, the muscle becomes immobile. Botox will relax the muscles, shrinking it 60% – 80%. Obvious visible results will occur over 3 – 4 weeks achieving a sharper, more defined V shaped jaw.
Most patients who seek jawline reduction usually have a square jawline. For individuals who constantly grind their teeth, it acts like a workout for you jaw muscle, causing it to gradually increase in size (gives off the appearance for square jaw).
Other than jaw reduction, injecting Botox into the masseter muscles can also help to:
- reduce teeth grinding (bruxism)
- reducing jaw clenching
- relief headaches
- balanced facial shape

The cost is usually calculated by the amount of units required to be injected. If you have a larger masseter muscle, it might cost a little more.
How long does Botox Jaw Reduction last?
Botox jaw reduction usually last for 4 – 6 months. The results are not permanent and it requires regular sessions to maintain the slim face.
When the Botox loses effect, your jaw muscles will regain its size and the jaw size will return back to pre botox conditions.
If you come in for consistent treatments, the weakened muscles will be less active allowing each session to last a little longer.

Generally for Botox injections, there are minimal to no downtime. After the treatment, certain patients might experience slight bruising at the injection site, however, it will gradually fade away throughout the day.

For patients treating teeth grinding, it will take 1 – 2 weeks to feel the effects.
Botox for Asymmetrical Jaw
Asymmetrical jaw can happen based on a variety of reasons. From aging to uneven teeth, some patients will find one side of jaw muscles to be larger than the other.
With the help of Botox, asymmetrical jaw can be treated by injecting Botox to the larger jaw muscles. As the muscles weaken, it will reduce in size and restore the symmetry in your face.
Will I have problems chewing after the treatment?
The majority of people do not have this difficulty since just the corner area of the muscle is relaxed, not the entire muscle. However, after chewing for a while, you may feel tired; this is a transitory phenomena that will pass in a short amount of time, usually within a week.
If you experience any difficulty chewing, be sure to consult any of our experienced doctors or aestheticians.
Should I choose Botox or Dysport for Jaw Slimming?
The 3 popular Botulinum Toxin brands (Dysport, Xeomin & Botox) all does the same job with a slight difference in characteristics. The difference mainly lies on how it spreads. Although all 3 brands are HSA approved, the preferred Botulinum Toxin brands used in the clinic are Botox and Dysport, mainly due to the longer track records.
- Dysport spreads better (More suitable for larger areas – Jaws & more even distribution)
- Botox is better for small corrections (More suitable to target wrinkles)
The price of Dysport is cheaper compared to the other two brands. You will tend to see faster results with Dysport (1 – 2 days) while Botox and Xeomin will take 2 – 3 days.
Do note that there are some clinics in Singapore that uses Non-HSA approved Botulinum Toxin (typically from Korea and China). It is important to check with your Doctor the brand for your safety.
Is the Treatment Painful?
