How does HIFU treatment work?

What is HIFU?
Medical grade HIFU treatment is the gold standard facelift alternative in Singapore. The treatment results can last 6 to 12 months with an intensive protocol performed based on the doctor’s advice to patients. Repeated treatment at a regular frequency is required for patients with more severe skin laxity. It is an approved treatment and can only be performed by qualified doctors.
HIFU can target 3 depth under the skin to regenerate collagen production. The first depth 1.5mm targets the dermis layer focusing on fine lines & wrinkles. HIFU and Ultherapy are frequently confused as the same procedure. Ultherapy combines high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) with real-time imaging.

1. FDA (Food & Drug Administration) Approved MachinesÂ
FDA approved machines add a higher premium due to their safety records and stringent safety protocols. When the price of the machine and consumables is high, the costs are also transferred to patients. KFDA-approved machines also provide an excellent track record, however, as KFDA is not internationally recognised, the prices of machines are slightly cheaper.
2. Brand of HIFU

What is Botox?
Botox is a muscle relaxing drug that primarily used to reduce wrinkles temporarily (usually up to 4-6 months). Botox is a protein derived from Botulinum toxin. It is a neurotoxin which disrupts nerve signalling processes to stimulate muscle contraction.
In order for any muscle to contract, the nerves release a chemical messenger called acetylcholine. Botulinum toxin injections prevent the release of this messenger, which stops the muscle cells from contracting.

When it comes to injectable procedures, there are always certain risks involved. As different people reacts differently to Botox, in general most patients do not experience any side effects.
There are the rare few patients who will experience drooping of muscles (eyelids or eye brows) after the treatment, however the effects last only temporarily until the Botulinum Toxin wears off.
