At Bio Aesthetic Laser Clinic, we create doctor-led acne treatment plans for teens and adults — including oily skin, hormonal jawline acne, cystic/nodular acne and back acne.
Our goal: control inflammation, reduce breakouts, and prevent scarring with sensible downtime.
Acne occurs when pores are clogged with oil (sebum), dead skin and bacteria. Inflammation then produces different lesion types — comedones, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts.
Triggers include hormonal changes, stress/sleep, occlusive cosmetics and, in some individuals, high-GI diets.
Common contributing factors
Increased sebum and sticky dead skin cells
Overgrowth of Cutibacterium acnes
Hormonal changes (teens, adult females)
Heat/humidity and sweat (common in SG)
Certain medications or products (comedogenic)
Self‑care foundations
Gentle cleansing (max 2–3×/day), hands‑off, non‑comedogenic skincare
Daily broad‑spectrum SPF 30+; reduce over‑exfoliation
Seek medical care early for painful, recurrent, or scarring acne
The most common kinds of acne are whiteheads and blackheads.
Due to the blocked pores in the skin, clogged pores can occur as a result of excessive oil, bacteria, or skin cell formation, as well as hormonal fluctuations.
Although tempting, do not try to remove blackheads or whiteheads by squeezing, as it could potentially result in acne scars.
Papules are little red lumps that occur when oil or dead skin cells clog a pore and mingle with Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) bacteria on your skin.
The bacteria are able to escape into the surrounding skin tissue, causing an inflammatory lesion.
Pustules are similar to papules, but they contain pus. Pustules occur due to an infected blocked pore, resulting in bulging pimples with a white core and red, irritated skin on the outside.
Nodular acne is characterized by flesh-colored or red pimples underneath the skin’s surface. C. acnes bacterium causes a painful infection deep within the pore, resulting in nodular acne.
Back acne (also called bacne) develops when sweat, oil, and dead skin clog pores on the back and shoulders.
Singapore’s humid climate and tight clothing can worsen breakouts, especially after workouts. Bacne can appear as blackheads, red bumps, or painful cysts, and may leave scars if untreated.
The main method to diagnose acne is through a skin medical diagnosis with an experienced doctor.
At Bio Aesthetic Laser Clinic, our doctors specialise in acne treatments and have treated multiple acne conditions.
To decide the appropriate treatments, our doctors will assess the types of lesions and their severity.

Acne scar Removal is often the next step after acne treatment. Patients who struggled with acne when they were younger now have to deal with a new problem: acne scars.
Acne scars and markings can last for months or even years after the pimples have faded. After a large pimple or cyst, the skin’s natural healing process will leave a scar.
A scar is more likely to develop if the inflammation is severe. To heal acne scars, you’ll need patience and a variety of cosmetic tools.
Some examples of acne scar removal treatments are:
Doctor‑led protocols and individualised plans
Comprehensive options from acne control to acne‑scar repair
Two locations: Orchard & Tampines (convenient access)
Transparent pricing and informed consent
At Bio Aesthetic Laser Clinic, we believe that prevention is better than cure. It is always important to have a good skin care and hygiene routine.
Acne treatment facials are the best way to prevent acne breakouts from happening. It is specifically tailored to treat acne, reduce inflammation, eliminate pus, and lower the risk of infection.
The more common exfoliating approach, masking method, or laser therapy can all be employed in an acne face treatment.
While these procedures may seem similar to a standard facial, they differ in how they are applied to acne-prone or acne-scarred skin.
The recommended acne facials are hydrafacial, chemical peel and laser facial (carbon laser peel).

Many patients notice clearer skin in 4–8 weeks with consistent care; maintenance helps prevent relapse.
For oil and congestion, chemical peels (salicylic/glycolic), Hydrafacial or Q-Switch acne laser are commonly used; plans are personalised after examination.
Entry sessions are typically from $128–$398 depending on modality; complex add-ons are customised after doctor assessment. See the price table above.
Peels excel at comedones/surface congestion; Q-Switch supports oil control, pore purification and marks. Some plans combine both.
Moderate–severe acne may benefit from antibiotics (time-limited) or hormonal options (for women). Severe or resistant acne may consider isotretinoin under monitoring.
Certain topicals (e.g., azelaic acid, some BPO/antibiotic gels) may be considered; others are avoided. Always consult your doctor.
High-glycaemic diets and some dairy may worsen acne for some individuals. Your doctor can personalise recommendations.
Gentle cleanser, non-comedogenic moisturiser, SPF 30+ daily; avoid over-scrubbing and harsh combinations at once.
Back acne usually needs a longer plan: topicals, peels, laser and hygiene steps. Sessions and intervals are tailored after assessment.
Medical facials with minimal extraction and LED are preferred; avoid aggressive manual extractions during flares.
